Working for Cisco’s Internet of Things Group, Jared Carter helps customers in the Energy, Manufacturing and Transportation verticals understand and apply solutions to address their most important business challenges. These Line of Business solutions apply to operational systems and often relate directly to system reliability, system output/yield, and system operating costs.

Jared joined Cisco in 2005 and has held the industry’s most respected technical certification (CCIE #12375) for 10+ years. In his 15+ years in IT networking he has designed, built, and now helped customers deploy secure IT and operational networks for power substations and distribution automation, plant floor automation and control, and for core IP wide-area networks.

During Jared’s time focused on the Industrial IoT, he has continually helped Cisco’s IoT business unit understand the requirements of its industrial customers, which has led to the development of new features specifically built for IoT applications. These features have increased Cisco’s ability to solve customer problems and are being used globally.

Jared has proven successful in the role of a bridge between a customer’s Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT) teams, as the two become more integrated across industrial verticals. The result has been solutions delivered that meet not only the production and availability requirements of the business, but also the security and manageability needs of IT.
